The Everything Guide To Writing Children’s Books: From Cultivating an Idea to Finding the Right Publisher All You Need to Launch a Successful Career
These 4 are children’s books and are Science Fiction. I’d appreciate it if anyone could tell me what the title’s of the books are, if you know. It’s been bugging me for awhile.
I know I haven’t given a lot to go on.
1. This family is trapped in a mall, I think there’s a snow storm or something, and there’s another family. The other family are aliens. I forget the adults names, but the kids are named Bart, Lisa and Maggie.
2. This kid gets a purple drink that makes him smarter. Unfortunately that’s all I remember about that one.
3. Some kid finds a device in a tree. The device can control time.
4. There are these two kids, one of the kids (if not both, they could be brothers) has a relative that’s old, and he was on the Titanic. He doesn’t remember much. Somehow they time travel onto the Titanic.
5. There’s a door, I think someone goes through it. And on the other side food is reversed. Good food tastes bad and bad food tastes good. Ketchup tastes the best.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like the first book has been identified. The front cover looks very familiar. I’m trying to find somewhere that has more information about it to confirm that it’s right.
Thank you arabesque [wing or sprinter?].
I have totally run out of ideas for new books to read and desperate for suggestions. I haven’t been reading much lately, because I’m currently working in China and it’s hard to get my hands on books in English that are relatively new. I have my degree in English, so I’m well-versed in the classics. I like a wide variety of stuff (see list below), including children’s literature and science fiction. Some of my favorite books/books I recently read and liked are:
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
Come Thou Tortoise by Jessica Grant
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
The Borrowers by Mary Norton
Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech
Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins
Skinny Legs And All by Tom Robbins
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
The Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
Basically I’m looking for non-classic fiction novels/series, well written, with no vampires, werewolves or angsty teenage romance please.
Just thought of another favorite – The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin.
